ARTIST STATEMENT

The Inside/Outside exhibition is a groundbreaking showcase that epitomizes Christopher Loss’s artistic philosophy. This four-part series features large-format photographs arranged in a way that creates a cohesive narrative, akin to the progression of seasons or quarters in a basketball game. Each photograph captures a different aspect of local parks, with scenes of children playing sports juxtaposed against images of spectators, creating a dynamic interplay between action and observation.

Inside/Outside is designed to be a deeply interactive and interpretive experience. The exhibition highlights the dualities of indoor and outdoor spaces, and the interplay between the art world insiders and those on the periphery. By bringing the outside in, the exhibition not only transforms the gallery space but also challenges visitors to reconsider their relationship with public and private realms. Through this innovative approach, Loss invites the audience to engage with the art on a personal level, fostering a deeper connection to both the artwork and the community it represents.

His work is characterized by its accessibility and relatability, drawing inspiration from local parks and everyday urban scenes.
