Booking Application Information for The Dark Room at The Grandel

Operated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, the award-winning Dark Room inside The Grandel is a premier live music and art venue in St. Louis. The Dark Room showcases live music and rotating photography exhibits that celebrate the sights and sounds of our vibrant city. With a full-service bar available for all shows and catering by Michele C. Catering for select events, we offer an unforgettable experience for artists and audiences.

Booking Guidelines

  • Official Booking Method: This application is the exclusive method for booking performances at The Dark Room @ The Grandel. Booking requests submitted through other channels will not be accepted.
  • Advance Booking: We schedule performances 2 to 3 months (or more) in advance. Early submissions are encouraged to increase the chance of securing a spot on our calendar, should you be selected.
  • Band Size: To preserve the intimate atmosphere of our venue, bands are limited to quintets (five members) or smaller. Exceptions allowing larger ensembles will only be made at our discretion and on rare occasions.
  • Genre and Sound: We welcome all genres. However, for heavier styles, performances must be adapted to fit the room’s acoustics, which may require unplugged or acoustic sets.
  • Original Music Requirement: Acts must perform a setlist comprising at least 50% original material.
  • Selection Process: We reserve the right to select performers based on the needs of our programming and audience. Only artists we are interested in booking will be contacted. Please do not follow up regarding your application status once submitted.
  • Performance Expectations: Artists are expected to perform at least two 45-minute sets. Occasionally, shorter or opening sets may be requested.
  • Compensation: We provide industry-standard guarantees and deal structres. Compensation may be based on factors such as artists draw, market history, and event specifics. All conversations and digital communication are considered tentative until confirmed by a signed contract.
  • Marketing: While we actively promote shows, artists are responsible for engaging their fanbases and providing all necessary promotional materials in a timely manner. Artists may also be asked to participate in additional promotional opportunities to support marketing efforts.
