Terms and Conditions for Artist Participation

By submitting your application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to adhere to all the terms and conditions outlined below. If selected, your submission serves as your acceptance of these rules and your commitment to uphold them throughout your participation in the MATI Festival and Conference.

Eligibility
- Residency Requirement: All applicants must reside within the greater St. Louis area.
- Performance Material: Artists must submit original, heritage, or legacy music they have the legal right to perform.
Application Process
- Submission: Complete the official application form, providing accurate and current information.
- Selection: Submission does not guarantee selection. The festival reserves the right to choose artists based on programming needs and artistic vision.
Performance Details
- Scheduling: Performance dates, times, and locations will be assigned by the festival.
- Technical Requirements: Artists must submit detailed technical riders outlining stage plots and technical needs, including equipment and setup requirements.
Compensation
- Payment: Selected artists will receive fair compensation, adhering to guidelines from the Musicians Association of Saint Louis. Payment details will be outlined in individual artist agreements.
- Expenses: Unless specified, artists are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and other expenses.
Conduct and Responsibilities
- Professionalism: Artists are expected to conduct themselves professionally, respecting festival staff, attendees, and fellow performers.
- Punctuality: Timely arrival for sound checks, performances, and other scheduled activities is mandatory.
- Compliance: Adherence to all festival policies, venue regulations, and local laws is required.
Promotion and Media
- Rights: By participating, artists grant the festival permission to use their name, likeness, and performance excerpts for promotional purposes across various media.
- Merchandise: Selling merchandise on festival grounds is permitted only with prior approval and may be subject to venue-specific regulations.
Indemnification
- Indemnification Clause: Artists agree to indemnify and hold harmless the festival, its organizers, and partners from any claims arising from their participation.
Intellectual Property and Recording Rights
- Festival Use: The festival reserves the right to record and broadcast performances for promotional purposes, including use on social media, websites, and other media platforms.
- Notification: Artists will be notified in advance if performances are recorded for commercial purposes.
- Rights Retention: Artists retain all rights to their original works performed, with the exception of rights granted to the festival for promotional use.
Credentialing and Accommodation
- Scope of Responsibility: The festival is not responsible for credentialing or accommodating anyone outside the terms outlined in the artist’s contract.
- Artist Responsibility: It is the artist’s responsibility to align their team, assets, and other logistical needs to the requirements provided by the festival.
- Communication: Artists are expected to communicate all relevant information provided by the festival to their team members to ensure seamless participation.
