ARTIST STATEMENT
I Still Love Her: A Celebration of Women in Hip-Hop was created by Kris Blackmon in 2013, celebrating Women’s contributions to both the genre & culture of Hip-Hop.
I Still Love Her explores through visual art, performance art and lecture how Women have been both innovators & cultivators of Hip-Hop. Women’s contributions to Hip – Hop are often dehumanized, minimized and simply erased in both a historical and cultural context. I Still Love Her attempts to acknowledge that we are DJs, MCs, Breakers, Graffiti Artists, Scholars, Journalists, Producers, Designers and any & all things in between.
