Year of the Moth
Jackie Scharenberg
I’m a photographer based in St. Louis, drawn to the quiet, in-between hours of city life. I’m interested in the emotional weight and liminal qualities of ordinary spaces like empty parking lots, glowing storefronts, or alleyways illuminated by a single light. I often think of my work in terms of light and darkness, both visually and emotionally. I’m drawn to the way a single light can reshape a mundane scene, creating a beacon or illuminating a pathway. That illumination feels symbolic, like a moth to a flame, the light pulls me towards hope and new perspectives.
