THE DARK ROOM
Operated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, the award-winning Dark Room at The Grandel is a premier live music and art venue. It features live performances and rotating photography exhibits that celebrate the sights and sounds of St. Louis. The venue offers a full-service bar for all shows and catering by Michele C. Catering for select events, with bookings and promotions managed by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation. The Gallery at The Dark Room is a contemporary art space showcasing dynamic bodies of work by emerging and acclaimed photographers from St. Louis and beyond.
The Dark Room is also home to the Wednesday Night Jazz Jam—a free, family-friendly weekly event hosted by Bob Deboo that brings jazz within reach for people of all ages and backgrounds. The Jazz Jam takes place every Wednesday from 6-9 pm.
The Dark Room inside The Grandel is only open for select shows and programming. 2024/2025 Programing and What To Expect:
Lou Vibes (1st Friday) – Enjoy fresh sounds from emerging and established artists across all genres.
WerQ It Fridays (2nd Friday) – In partnership with WerQFest, we celebrate inclusivity through music and performance.
Global Music Night (3rd Friday) – Join us with the International Institute, Festival of Nations, and other partners as we explore global sounds and cultural diversity.
KAF Presents: Soul of the City (1st Saturday) This night is dedicated to showcasing core local artists and rising stars who are making waves in our music scene.
MATI Throwbacks (2nd Saturday) – Honor original local acts and the major artists who’ve played @Musicattheintersection shaping our music scene and connect past present and future.
– Saturday Night Spotlight (4th Saturday) Highlighting local heavyweights with their incredible talent and unique sounds, creating an unforgettable night of music that celebrates the artists who shape our city’s vibrant scene.
Shows are 21+, have a $5 -$10 cover at the door unless listed, and food by Michele C. Catering offered at Show Door Time until 12am. Please view the events calendar below.

Metered street parking exists in front of the main entrance, as well as secure garages in the surrounding blocks. The Grandel and The Dark Room are fully accessible and ADA-compliant. Accessible reserved parking and entrance (via ramp) are located on the direct west side of the building.
